Osaka Castle

Osaka

Built in 1583 by the daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Osaka Castle used to be the most important one in Japan for a while, before Edo Castle was built. Destroyed and then rebuilt for many times, the impressive main dungeon – with five outside floors and eight inside ones – proudly stands at the center of an estate of almost 1 km², between moats and bulwarks.
