Neputa Mura

Hirosaki

Neputa Mura is a museum dedicated to the lantern festival (Neputa Matsuri), but also to other specialties in Hirosaki. You will see big tanks with figurines and mythical scenes on the top, reproduced on huge paper fans and enlightened by lanterns.  Besides this museum, this traditional art is praticed every year at the beggining of August in Hirosaki’s streets for the Neputa Matsuri.
